CC2001/FF/LDU FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD

APPLICATION
The FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD is designed to be used with the FENFONE intercom system to reduce line and PA impedance loading of the FenFone intercom units enabling correct operation of the ConTel sidetone reduction circuit. It is imperative that all FenFone units are fitted with a FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD prior to attempting connection of a ConTel station to an existing FENFONE system.

INSTALLATION
The FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD is intended to be contained within the FenFone unit to which it is connected. On many older FenFone units the installer will need the use of a soldering iron in addition to small hand tools. There are a few POST 1990 FENFONE stations which are easily identified by the two terminal strips, one at the bottom, (numbered left to right, for the purposes of this data sheet) and one on the right hand side of the pcb (numbered top to bottom, for the purposes of this data sheet) Prior to installation check the 24v power supply rail. If the power supply rail is <20v consider the addition of a supplementary Power Supply Unit (CC2001/PSU) before proceeding.

  1. Disconnect incoming Line A & B and Page A & B from TS1-1 to TS1-4 on the FenFone circuit board and connect these wires in the same order to the CC2001/FF/LDU as the connections schedule detailed above.

  2. Connect cables 1(brown), 2(red), 3(orange) and 4(yellow) to TS1-1 to TS1-4 on the FenFone circuit board as the Connections schedule detailed above.

  3. Identify 0v (normally black of the handset lead) and Paging Switched Earth (normally red of the handset lead) on the handset terminal strip/solder posts on the FenFone circuit board. Identify Power On +24vDC (switched side) on the stowage switch terminal strip/solder posts on the FenFone circuit board. Connect the Green (0V), Violet(Page OV) and Blue (Power) in parallel with the existing wires as the connections schedule detailed above.

  1. POST 1990 FENFONE Identify 0v (normally white of green/white incoming pair) and Paging Switched Earth (normally black of the handset lead) on the handset terminal strip on the FenFone circuit board. Identify Power On +24vDC (switched side) on the stowage switch side terminal strip on the FenFone circuit board. Connect the Green (0V), Violet(Page OV) and Blue (Power) in parallel with the existing wires as the connections schedule detailed above.

  2. Using the self-adhesive plastic cable tie base and tie, tie round the FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD and secure to an appropriate flat surface inside the FenFone station.

Failure to do so introduces noise,
adversely affecting other users
 

COMMISSIONING

  1. Confirm relay L (Line) operates when the FenFone handset is lifted and the FenFone is active.

  2. Confirm relay P (Page) operates when the FenFone handset trigger is depressed and the main pcb paging relay operates. (relay L should remain switched on until the handset is replaced).

  3. When all FenFone units have been fitted with a FENFONE RETROFIT BOARD adjustments should be made to reduce each FenFone line and paging audio levels to –10dBm before connection and commissioning of any ConTel station onto the system.

  4. Affix the Replace Handset sticker to the front of the FenFone above the Stowage where it can clearly be seen.

NB If either relay fails to operate and all connections are satisfactory, check the 24v power supply rail. If the power supply rail is <18v intermittent/mis-operation may result. Consider the addition of a supplementary Power Supply Unit, CC2001/PSU.
